Only Human - Q*? Are we closer to AGI?

Well hi all, out of all the drama surrounding openAI, and Sam Altman, more news and mystery Q*? A research development, Q* algorithm, many are saying it’s a step closer to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). OpenAI has yet to announce any statement about Q*, the information is based on leaks and rumours, so should be taken with a grain of salt. check the video below it explains it well. check out more in the news section.

It’s been a few weeks since the custom GPTs, now there are tens of thousands of custom GPTs floating around the internet, but we are still waiting for the GPT store to start. I have noticed there are lots of similar GPTs, I will pick out some gems to share with you, but will also share some of the GPTs I’m creating. Now that I have experimented with some simple GPTs I’m exploring adding more functionality using actions.

I am creating more tutorials (check out the section about Goblin Academy) to inspire Ideas for custom GPTs, I am also creating a GPT that can audit your AI needs and give guidance on implementing AI and GPTs in your business.

NEWS

Microsoft Research has released the Orca 2 LLM - Microsoft Research has released Orca 2, a new AI language model in two sizes. Both can match the performance of LLMs like Llama 2 in certain ways, even though they are much smaller.

Adobe Acquires Rephrase.ai: Adobe Systems has expanded its generative AI capabilities with the acquisition of Rephrase.ai, a Bengaluru-based startup. Rephrase.ai specializes in simplifying video production by transforming text into professional-looking videos, an emerging area in the text-to-video AI generation space.

Q? Rumors we are a step closer to AGI?

"Q Star," or "Q*," represents a major step forward in the world of artificial intelligence (AI), bringing us closer to what's called Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) – a type of AI that can understand, learn, and apply its knowledge as broadly as a human can. Normally, AI systems learn like students who rely on teachers for guidance. But with "Q*," it's as if these AI students are becoming capable of learning a wide range of topics on their own, without needing someone to constantly guide them.

Imagine a smart assistant on your phone. Right now, it can perform tasks it's been specifically programmed to do, like setting reminders or answering simple questions. With "Q*," this assistant could start understanding and performing tasks in a way that's much more human-like, adapting to new situations and solving complex problems on its own.

The leap towards AGI with "Q*" is significant because it means AI could soon help us in more sophisticated ways, like a self-driving car that can navigate any unforeseen situation on the road or a computer program that could assist in complex medical diagnoses, almost like a highly skilled doctor.

However, as we move closer to achieving AGI with developments like "Q*," it's important to proceed with caution. We need to ensure that this advanced AI behaves ethically and safely, making decisions that are beneficial and not harmful. It's a bit like teaching a very smart child not just how to learn, but also how to make wise and morally sound choices. By doing this, we can make the most of the incredible potential of "Q*" and AGI, using it to improve our lives while keeping safety and ethical considerations at the forefront.

Stability AI's Recent Developments: Stability AI, the company behind the text-to-image model Stable Diffusion, announced the release of Stable Video Diffusion. This new AI model generates videos by animating existing images and is among the few video-generating models available both open source and commercially.

AI21 Labs Funding: AI21 Labs, a company that develops generative AI products similar to OpenAI's GPT-4 and ChatGPT, raised $53 million, bringing its total funding to $336 million. The Tel Aviv-based startup is creating a range of text-generating AI tools.

Pika Labs Raises $55M: Pika Labs, a startup focusing on generative AI, has raised $55 million. They are developing an AI-powered platform to edit and generate videos from captions and still images, tapping into the growing demand for generative AI in video production.
