The return of Sam Altman

The return of Sam Altman

Well, it’s been a bit of a shake-up in the AI world, as you probably already know Sam Altman was fired, then worked for Microsoft, and is now back at OpenAI. It left a lot of questions, like should I cancel my OpenAI subscription? For the developer’s reliability and consistency, consider other options. Anthropic have an update with Cluade 2.1, google has a new model in the pipeline and Amazon is working on their model. There are options available, I plan to explore different models and tools. I am still working on custom GPTs, but will be working on some projects like Microsoft Autogen, and platforms like Mindstudio.

the OpenAI saga may change some things but the AI train is still speeding ahead.

NEWS

  • On a rollercoaster ride this weekend, OpenAI fired Sam Altman, Microsoft gave him a job, and the majority of the employees demanded the board resign, now it looks like Sam is back at OpenAI and the board has been replaced. There is a lot about the reason for this drama on the web, Im not going to add to that, the question is what does this mean for developers, businesses and the end user? At this time there isn’t any real change to using OpenAI, and the fact that Microsoft is heavily invested means it’s unlikely to disappear even if it means absorbing it into Microsoft. The key I think to leveraging AI is to be adaptable, AI changes and develops at a great speed.

  • Google and AI safety - Google extended their partnership with Anthropic in working on achieving high standards in AI safety.

  • Microsoft Copilot - An AI assistant for everything, an assistant customised for all your needs with integration for most of Microsoft’s apps.

  • Claude 2.1 from Anthropic - An update to the Anthropics model including an API tool and system prompts for custom instructions. check out the full details.

TOOLS

This week's tool picks:

  • Skybox AI - create 360 worlds

  • LindoAI - AI-powered website builder.

  • SidekicAI - Your Personal AI Search Assistant. A smart knowledge hub for all your best resources, instantly shareable and infinitely searchable

  • Mindstudio - build and deploy your own AI tools, will be testing this tool myself.

PROJECTS

  • Microsoft Autogen - AutoGen provides a multi-agent conversation framework as a high-level abstraction. It is an open-source library for enabling next-generation LLM applications with multi-agent collaborations, teachability and personalization. With this framework, users can build LLM workflows. The agent modularity and conversation-based programming simplify development and enable reuse for developers. End-users benefit from multiple agents independently learning and collaborating on their behalf, enabling them to accomplish more with less work. Benefits of the multi-agent approach with AutoGen include agents that can be backed by various LLM configurations; native support for a generic form of tool usage through code generation and execution; and, a special agent, the Human Proxy Agent that enables easy integration of human feedback and involvement at different levels.

  • Building GPTs with actions - now you have a GPT that answers questions in a specific area, I will show you how to add integrations like using your GPT to generate a sales email, and then automatically send it to your email list. There are many different actions you can implement, you can connect apps to your GPT, and use platforms like Zappier to automate your GPTs.
